Hello and welcome to my website, my name is Sema Martin and I am a professional Pet Portrait Artist based in Wales, UK. I grew up in Kent which was a wonderful opportunity for a weekly trip to the National Gallery in London. It was my happy place when growing up. I then moved to Sheffield to study and surrounded by the countryside I decided to join the caving society which allowed me to explore much of the Yorkshire Dales, both under and over ground. I was also able to go on various expeditions to discover new cave systems in Morocco, Crete and Spain. During my studies of Engineering and Space based subjects I was able to live, study and work in France, California, Chicago which opened up more viewpoints and opportunities to take.
In 2016 I re-found my love of art through colour pencil projects and decided to take the leap and become a full time artist, changing careers entirely. I have always loved drawing and colouring since childhood and have drawn pictures for family and friends as gifts for Birthdays and Christmas. I loved seeing the look on their face when they saw my art and it was always so heart-warming how appreciative they were for my hard work. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to create pictures that people would love so much they would treasure them forever. Now I am a professional Award Winning artist doing just that for everyone around the globe.
You can read more about my journey to becoming an artist from an engineer in my blog post here.

My studio consists of my drawing board, equipment and medium storage and my computer desk for all the admin and business side of having your own art business. I have written two very useful blogs on the equipment I use to create my commission work with amazon links to buying them. You can find them here. Since I work from home I get to share this space with my loving husband Luke, who also works from home as an entrepreneur.
After joining the Coloured Pencil Community of Australasia I quickly became involved in the community and I am now part of the committee helping to share artworks and inspire other artists.
