Reference Photo vs Drawing
How to choose the perfect picture of your pet for a pet portrait commission:
When looking through your pictures and albums of your loved ones and pets, or taking a new picture yourself, there are a few key things to consider:
Good Lighting – is your picture light enough to see your pet?
True eye colour – does the picture show the true eye colour of your pet?
True fur colour – does the picture show the true fur colour of your pet?
Visible fur direction – can you see the fur in detail?
A good distance from the camera – is your pet too far away and hard to see?
Capturing Personality - try photographing them doing something they love, you know them best!
Pets That Have Passed Away - If your pet has sadly passed away and you only have a few photos, that’s absolutely fine. Send me what you have, and we’ll go through them together to create a meaningful portrait.
Multiple Pets On One Page
Want a portrait of all your pets together but don’t have a group photo? No problem! I can combine separate photos into one beautiful ‘family portrait.’
You can choose a full-body layout or a more classic head-and-neck style. If you’re unsure which photos to use, just get in touch, I’ll help you pick the best ones.
Step 5: Watching Your Portrait Come To Life
I will email you just before I start your portrait so you can watch the progress on my
Facebook Page and Instagram Page .
Step 6: Give The Final Approval
Once you're happy with the finished portrait, I’ll mount it, pack it securely, and send it to you.
Mounting/ Matting
All portraits come with a high-quality double white mount as standard. The mount is 100% acid-free and cut at a 45-degree bevel to enhance depth and protect your portrait long-term. If you'd prefer a different colour, just let me know and I’ll send you mock-ups to choose from.
Framing
If you'd like your portrait framed and ready to hang, I offer professional framing for an extra charge. It’s a popular choice, especially if you want to save time and have it arrive finished.
I use UV-protective Plexiglass to keep your portrait safe and looking its best for years. If you have a colour or frame style in mind, just let me know, I can send you mock-ups to choose from.
Step 7: Packing & Delivery
Once the portrait is packed and weighed you will then be invoiced for delivery. Delivery can take 3 to 5 working days depending on your country and will be fully tracked with UPS.
Step 8: Leave A Review
The best part of my job is hearing from you! When you have safely received your portrait, let me know what you think!
